Summary:The Oklahoma Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act of 2007 (HB 1804) requires state and local government agencies and private employers with government contracts to utilize I-9 verification to check the immigration status of newly hired employees. The law includes a provision making it a discriminatory practice for an employer to terminate a work-authorized employee while retaining a non-work authorized employee, if the two employees had substantially similar job duties. But the employer is indemnified under this provision if it is properly using I-9 verification.
