Available. Good conduct certificates (Certificado de Habilitacion Policial) may be obtained from the Chief of Police (Jefe de Policia) of each of the nineteen departments of Uruguay. Persons living abroad may apply through the Uruguayan Embassy or one of the Uruguayan Consulates where they are fingerprinted and their personal data is taken down. The applicant should then send the fingerprint card to a relative in Uruguay to request the certificate. Non-Uruguayan former residents of Uruguay may obtain good conduct certificates only if they have an Identity Card that was issued to them while they were residing in the country. There may be a fee for this service plus an additional fee if urgent processing is requested. |
